Welcome from the Head

I would like to welcome you and your family to St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School. I am very proud and honoured to serve as the head teacher of such an inclusive and successful school.

We have high aspirations for every child both academically and personally and we expect that all children will achieve their full potential. We follow the teachings and values of Jesus to encourage mutual love and respect throughout our school and community.

We welcome children from all faiths and those who do not have a religious background and we believe that every child is equally precious and blessed with their own set of gifts and talents.

Our school has been graded as good in the past three Ofsted inspections and was graded as good with outstanding features in our Diocesan inspection in 2018.

St. Wilfrid’s is a very special place where high expectations of work and behaviour helps to foster a love of learning in a happy and stimulating environment. We have a vibrant curriculum, designed to inspire our children and an enrichment programme of extra curricular activities such as after school clubs (e.g. Space Camp, Forest School, sports and arts), trips and visitors and theme days which add to the excitement of learning.

Children have the opportunity to contribute to our school development through roles such as Head Girl and Boy, house captains and vice captains, school councillors and science ambassadors.

We take the care and support of our children’s emotional health and well being very seriously and recognise that in order to thrive children need to feel safe and secure. All staff receive regular and thorough safeguarding training and we also have key staff who provide small group and individual support to those who need it.

We joined the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust in 2020 and have welcomed the support, opportunities and benefits that this has brought to our school.

Please take the time to explore our website and please feel free to come and visit us - ring to make an appointment and see for yourself what the St. Wilfrid’s family can offer to your child.
